Here you’ll find answers to common questions about VICTA seating, safety standards, compliance, configuration, materials, installation, and maintenance. If you don’t see what you need here, our technical support team is one call away at (800) 437-4220.
Are VICTA seats designed to meet federal safety standards?
Yes. VICTA seats are tested and designed to meet applicable FMVSS standards. Specific compliance documentation varies by product and application. Refer to the individual product specification sheet for compliance details or contact our technical support team with questions about a specific seat and vehicle combination.
Can seats be relocated or reinstalled in a different position within a vehicle?
Seat mounting is typically accomplished with standard hardware—nuts and bolts or track-mount systems. However, compliance testing is conducted for specific seat positions within specific vehicle types. Relocating a seat may affect its tested compliance status. Contact our technical support team with your vehicle and seat details before making changes to an existing installation.
What is the warranty on VICTA seats?
VICTA seats carry a three-year limited manufacturer warranty. Contact your dealer or HSM Transportation customer service for warranty terms applicable to your specific product.
What do I need to know before installing a seat in a van or bus?
Proper installation depends on a number of factors: vehicle design, seat location, floor structure, and the intended use of the vehicle. We recommend working with an authorized VICTA dealer or contacting HSM Transportation customer service before specifying a seat for a new installation. Having your vehicle make, model, year, and intended seat locations available will help us respond accurately.
What factors affect the price of a VICTA seat?
Seat pricing depends on the model, configuration, upholstery selection, options, and order quantity. Contact a VICTA dealer in your area for current pricing on specific configurations. If you need help locating a dealer, give us a call.
What upholstery options are available for VICTA commercial seating?
VICTA commercial seats are available in Vinyl and Woven Fabric upholstery. Both are offered in a range of commercial-grade colors and styles. Contact your dealer or HSM Transportation with your specific application and we will identify the best option for your program.
Are VICTA seats compatible with different van and bus models?
VICTA seats are designed and bench-tested to common industry specifications and fit a wide range of commercial van and bus platforms. We are not able to test every vehicle and seating location combination. If you need confirmation for a specific vehicle and application, contact our technical support team with your vehicle and seat details.
What options and accessories are available?
Popular options include:
- ADA compliant grab handles
- Polyurethane and upholstered armrests
- UCRA (Uniform Child Restraint Anchorage) also known as LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children)
- Multiple levels of woven and vinyl cover materials
- Map or back of seat pockets
Additional options may be available depending on the seat model. Contact HSM Transportation with your specific requirements.
Can I request a sample of upholstery material?
Yes. Contact your authorized VICTA dealer or HSM Transportation directly with your material interest and application, and we will arrange a sample.
How do I clean a Vinyl seat?
Use a damp soft cloth with mild soap and water, then rinse with clean water. Do not use harsh cleaning agents, solvents, or abrasive materials as these can damage the Vinyl surface, degrade the stitching, and alter the color of the cover.
During cleaning, inspect the seat for cracks, tears, torn seams, or areas of exposed foam. These are signs of wear or damage. If found, the cover should be replaced.
How do I clean a Woven Fabric seat?
Use a commercial upholstery cleaner appropriate for woven fabrics. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and test a small, inconspicuous area first to confirm the cleaner does not affect the color or texture of the fabric. Do not saturate the material. Allow the seat to dry fully before returning it to service.
Is a flip seat and a fold seat the same thing?
Seat names can be confusing with various terms being used interchangeably or to describe different seats. With the VICTA line, we name and define them as follows:
- Fold-a-Way Seat – Sometimes called a fold, fold-up, stow-a-way, or ADA seat. This seat is designed to fold against the wall when not in use, freeing floor space for a wheelchair position, mobility device, luggage, or other equipment. The VICTA Fold-a-Way works by laying the back cushion on the seat, then hinging the seat to an upright position, typically against a wall.
- Flip Seat – Has a cushion that remains locked in an upright position, parallel to the back. When needed, the seat can be lowered for a person to sit in. It is often used near a door access point to provide more room for ingress and egress of the vehicle. Also used along walls to provide space for cargo or wheelchair latch points.
- Jump Seat – Is a narrow seat, typically in a truck cab between the driver and passenger seat or on a delivery van as a second or third passenger position. It is typically used as a temporary seating position.
Do you offer marine seating?
Yes. Marine seating is engineered for use in wet and damp environments, with materials and construction selected for moisture resistance and corrosion durability. Contact HSM Transportation to discuss your specific marine application.
Do you offer driver’s seats?
Yes. The Circuit Rider is a purpose-built driver seat designed for commercial van and cutaway chassis applications, with direct-mount compatibility for Ford E-Series and GM Cutaway seat delete bases. It meets FMVSS 207/210 standards and is available in Vinyl upholstery with Polyurethane or Upholstered armrest options. Contact your dealer or HSM Transportation for fitment details.
